STUDIO

La Luna is an 1800 sq ft, 8-room recording studio housed within an extensively renovated 1940's foundry in Kalamazoo's historic Edison Neighborhood. Our large live room is designed for full-band performances and huge drum sounds, with a spacious control room designed for comfortable and accurate listening. 6 additional recording spaces are available for separation and different sonic textures, including two comfy isolation booths with big windows and generous sightlines to the main room.

We offer both analog and digital recording, mixing, mastering, audio workshops, live events, and private lessons, with an extensive collection of vintage and modern equipment. Our neighbors in the Jerico campus include a music venue, coffee shop, yoga studio, video production company, and many other independent artists and craftspeople.

Founded by Ian Gorman as "Big Green Lamp!" in 2001, and renamed "La Luna Recording & Sound" in 2012, the studio has grown from a modest home set-up into one of most prolific and creative recording destinations in the state. Our artists’ careers have grown alongside the studio, and we’ve been home to many of the most influential Michigan album of the past 20 years.

We are proud to work with independent artists, creating passionate and wildly inventive music over a wide range of styles, always staying true to his client's artistic vision, and mindful of the budget of the working musician. We strive to make powerful, classic recordings that fully capture the artist's creative vision and stand the test of time.
